for Germany, United Airlines #944, Chicago/Frankfurt, departing Chicago at 2:30
pm.
Arrival
in Frankfurt at 5:45 a.m. Guided sightseeing tour of Frankfurt with the most
important sights followed by a trip to the Rhine with its castles &
vineyards. Overnight at Hotel Ibis Heidelberg with welcome dinner.
After
breakfast, departure for Strasbourg by deluxe motorcoach. Visit of the famous
“Poteries” in Soufflenheim with free time for shopping & lunch on own.
Check-in at Hotel Maison Blanche for 2 nights. A boat trip on the canal to
discover Strasbourg. Remainder of afternoon at leisure for sightseeing,
shopping & to discover the Old Strasbourg. Dinner at La Maison des
Tanneurs, formerly a tannery built in 1572, it became a restaurant in 1949.
After
breakfast, departure for Nordheim and a tasting of Munster cheese made from
goat’s milk at Ferme-Auberge du Cabri followed by a visit & tasting of
Alsatian wines at Maison Laugel in Marlenheim. Visit of a foie gras production
at the Domaine de la Schleif in Soultz-les-Bains with lunch. The journey will
continue through the famous “Route des Vins” that winds its way through 170
kilometers of storybook villages with a visit & tasting at Distillery
Massenez in Dieffenbach du Val. Evening at leisure in Strasbourg.
After
breakfast, departure for Colmar, the capital of Alsatian wines. Visit &
degustation at Brasserie Kronenbourg and visit of the Chateau of
Haut-Koenigsbourg. Lunch at Restaurant Ribeaupierre in Ribeauville followed by
a visit of the cellars & a wine tasting at Trimbauch. Check-in at the Hotel
de l’Europe for 2 nights. Evening at leisure in Colmar.
Entire day at leisure in Colmar to discover
this typical Alsatian town which has been extraordinarily well preserved.
The
Unterlinden Museum is a must. Afterwards, take a walk around the town to admire
the Maison Pfister with its frescos and stroll around the charming “Little
Venice”, the former tanner’s district. Dinner Au Fer Rouge, 1-star Michelin.
After breakfast, departure for Reims, one of
France’s most historic cities. Its owes its fame to its cathedral, the site of
the coronation of France’s Kings & the world famous Champagne vineyards.
Visit of Caves Haxaire, a Munster cheese production in Lapoutroie followed by a
visit of the crystal museum & shops of the world famous Baccarat with a
picnic lunch. Upon arrival in Reims, visit of Champagne Mumm to see the vat
room, cellars & production facilities and a tasting of their fine
champagnes. Check-in overnight at Hotel de la Paix. Dinner at Restaurant le Millenaire.
After
breakfast, visit of the Cathedral of Reims before departing for Paris. Visit of
Fromagerie Rouzaire, a production of Brie de Meaux & de Melun in
Tournan-en-Brie. Check-in at Park Hotel Orleans Palace for 4 nights. Welcome
lunch at Restaurant Les Vendanges. Afternoon, a Paris orientation to get
familiar with the major sites & a boat ride down the Seine River on the
famous “Bateaux-Mouches.” Remainder of day at leisure.
After
breakfast, visit of the Potager du Roi, the original garden of Louis XIV &
the Chateau of Versailles. The Palace of Versailles was originally built in the
16th century as a simple hunting lodge for Louis XIII. It was
expanded to the opulent palace that housed the reigning kings through
Louis-Philippe. Lunch at Brasserie du Theatre. Afternoon, visits of Claude
Monet’s Home & Gardens in Giverny where the impressionist painter worked
until his death at the age of 86 and
Lers Ducks de la Mare Hermier, a production of foie gras. Dinner at the
the Chateau de Brecourt, a fine example of Louis XIII brick & stone
chateau. Return to Paris.
Entire
day at leisure for sightseeing, shopping, museums & to discover Paris, the
“City of Light.”
After
breakfast, you will have the unique opportunity & privilege to witness the
Bastille Day Celebrations, France independence day with the military parade
& all the pageantry down the Champs Elysees, the largest avenue in the
world. Remainder of day at leisure. Farewell & Bastille Day Dinner at a
local Parisian restaurant.
After
breakfast, departure for Charles de Gaulle Airport & flight to U.S., United
Airlines #943, departing Paris at 11:20 a.m., arriving Chicago at 1:00 p.m.

To request space, a $500.00 deposit per person is due
with registration. Final balance is due 60 days prior to departure. A
confirmation will be mailed upon receipt of your registration. Itinerary may be
